Service

Web design that works for the business, not just the brochure.

Professional, fast websites designed around business objectives rather than simply appearance.

Who it’s for

A site that should be earning its keep.

Your website is out of date, slow, awkward on a phone, or simply doesn’t bring in enquiries. Or you’re starting out and need something credible you can grow into.

I work with local and small businesses, and with indie developers who want a game to have a proper home. If you want the site to do a job rather than just exist, that’s the work I enjoy.

What’s included

What the work covers

  1. Planning around the goal

Before any design we agree what a visitor should do: call, book, enquire or wishlist. Every page is built to lead there.

  2. Design that fits the business

A clear, confident look that suits your brand and your customers, designed for the phone first rather than squeezed down from a desktop layout.

  3. Fast, and built properly

Lightweight pages, optimised images and clean code, so the site loads quickly on a mobile connection and holds up on Google's page experience measures.

  4. Accessible by default

Readable text, sensible contrast, keyboard-friendly navigation and properly labelled forms. It is the baseline, not an upgrade.

  5. Search-friendly foundations

Sensible page titles, headings, structured data, a sitemap and clean URLs from day one. Deeper SEO is a separate, planned job: see Website + SEO.

  6. Launch and handover

Testing across devices, launch checks, and a plain-English walkthrough of how to keep the site up to date.

How it works

From first message to launch

  1. Conversation

You tell me what the business does and what the site needs to achieve. I tell you honestly what I'd do and whether I'm the right fit.

  2. Plan and structure

Pages, content and the route to enquiry are mapped out before anything is designed.

  3. Design

You see the look and feel on real content, on a phone and on a desktop, and we refine it.

  4. Build and test

The site is built, tested across devices and checked for speed, accessibility and search basics.

  5. Launch and improve

Live launch, then a review of how it's performing and what to improve next.

Questions

Straight answers

How long does a website take?

It depends on the size of the site and how quickly content and decisions arrive. I give a realistic timeline in the proposal once I understand the scope, rather than a one-size-fits-all number.

Will I be able to edit it myself?

That depends on what suits the project. Some sites are best as a simple hand-built static site; others benefit from a system you edit directly. I’ll recommend one and explain the trade-off.

Do you do the SEO as well?

The foundations are part of every build. Keyword research, content strategy and ongoing optimisation are a separate piece of work, best planned together with the site. See Website + SEO.

What do you need from me?

Your goals, your content (or help creating it), your logo and brand assets if you have them, and access to any existing site, domain or analytics. I’ll give you a clear list.

A short message is enough to start. I’ll reply with an honest view of whether and how I can help.
